Teď k vám posílám tyto bratry, abych se přesvědčil, zda jsem vás nepřechválil. Jak bych potom vypadal před Makedonskými, kdyby se ukázalo, že jsem neměl pravdu? Musel bych se propadnout hanbou a vy teprve!

B21 ³Posílám tedy zmíněné bratry, aby se ukázalo, že naše chlouba vámi nebyla v tomto ohledu prázdná, ale že jste připraveni, jak jsem říkal. ⁴Nerad bych, abychom se za tu chloubu museli stydět (o vás ani nemluvě), kdyby se mnou přišli Makedonci a zjistili, že nejste připraveni.

BKR ³I poslal jsem k vám tyto bratří, aby chlouba naše vámi nebyla marná v té stránce, ale abyste, (jakž jsem řekl,) byli hotovi, ⁴Abychom snad, přišli-li by se mnou Macedonští, a nalezli vás nehotové, nemusili se styděti, (ať nedím vy) za takovou chloubu.
