KJV (66 books) +2 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

AFINT (Exp US) +1 Absolutely not! Let it never be suggested that God is unfaithful! Rather, let God be acknowledged as true and faithful even if every human being proves to be a liar and unfaithful, just as the Scripture declares: “So that You may be proved righteous in Your words, and prevail as victor when You are brought into judgment.”

AFINT (Lit US) +1 May it never be! But let God be true but every man a liar, just as it is written: “So that You may be justified in Your words, and prevail when You are judged.”

ASV +1 God forbid: yea, let God be found true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, And mightest prevail when thou comest into judgment.

BSB +1 Certainly not! Let God be true and every man a liar. As it is written: “So that You may be proved right when You speak and victorious when You judge.”

DRA But God is true; and every man a liar, as it is written, That thou mayest be justified in thy words, and mayest overcome when thou art judged.

EMTV By no means! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar, just as it is written: “That You may be justified in Your words, and You may prevail when You are judged.”

FBV Of course not! Even if everyone else is proved to be lying, God always tells the truth. As Scripture says, “What you say will be proved right, and you will win your case when you are judged.”

GNV God forbid: yea, let God be true, and euery man a lyar, as it is written, That thou mightest be iustified in thy words, and ouercome, when thou art iudged.

LSV Let it not be! And let God become true, and every man false, according as it has been written: “That You may be declared righteous in Your words, and may overcome in Your being judged.”

NIV (US) +1 Not at all! Let God be true, and every human being a liar. As it is written: “So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.”

NMV May it not be: yes, let God-The Father be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That youi might be justified in youri sayings, and might overcome when youi are judged.

OJB Chas v'shalom (G-d forbid!) Let G-d be true and KOL HAADAM KOZEV (every man a liar). Even as it is written, L'MA'AN TITZDAK B'DAVRECHA (“in order that you might be vindicated when you speak” and shall overcome when you judge).

T4T I would reply, “No, it certainly does not mean that! God always does what he has promised, even though people do not. All those who accuse God of not keeping his promises to us Jews are very mistaken.” What King David wrote about God’s justly saying that he would punish him for his sins is also true of those who accuse God of not keeping his promises. What he said to God was, “So everyone must acknowledge that what you (sg) have said about them (OR, their sin) is true, and you will always win the case when you are accused {when people accuse you}.”

WEB (US) +4 May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written, “that you might be justified in your words, and might prevail when you come into judgment.”

WEB (UK) +2 May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written, “that you might be justified in your words, and might prevail when you come into judgement.”
