2Pe 2 Peter, chapter Second Epistle of Peter, chapter 3
This second Epistle (important or formal letter), beloved, I now write unto you; in [both] which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:2Pe 1:13
That you2f may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord - Kurios and Saviour:
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,1Ti 4:1; 2Ti 3:1
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation.Isa 5:19; Ezk 12:22; 1Co 15:12
For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God-The Father the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:Gen 1:1; Psa 24:2; Heb 11:3
Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:Gen 7:23
But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.Psa 102:26; Isa 51:6; Mat 13:40
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord - Kurios as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.Psa 90:4
The Lord - Kurios is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward (in custody, with a guard; prison), not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.Ezk 18:32; Ezk 33:11; 1Ti 2:4
But the day of the Lord - Kurios will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are in it shall be burned up.Mat 24:35; Mat 24:43; 1Th 5:2
[Seeing] then [that] all these things shall be dissolved, what manner [of persons] ought you2f to be in [all] holy Conversation (behavior; way of life; community) and godliness,
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God-The Father, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?Psa 50:3; Mic 1:4
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness.Isa 65:17; Isa 66:22; Rom 8:19; Rev 21:1
For what reason, beloved, seeing that you2f look for such things, be diligent that you2f may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.1Co 1:8
And account [that] the longsuffering of our Lord - Kurios [is] salvation; even as our beloved brother Sha’ul [desired] also according to the wisdom given unto him has written unto you;Rom 2:4
As also in all [his] epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as [they do] also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.1Co 15:24; 1Th 4:15
You2f therefore, beloved, seeing you2f know [these things] before, beware lest you2f also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord - Kurios and Saviour Yeshua [God is Salvation] Moshiach [Messiah]. To him [be] glory both now and forever. Amen.Rev 22:5
