5„Když jsem byl ve městě Joppe, modlil jsem se a najednou jsem ve vytržení spatřil vidění: z nebe se za čtyři cípy spouštělo něco jako veliká plachta. Když sestoupila až ke mně, 6pozorně jsem se do ní podíval a spatřil jsem čtvernohá polní zvířata i šelmy, plazy a ptáky. 7Tehdy jsem uslyšel hlas: ‚Vstaň, Petře, zabíjej a jez!‘ 8Odpověděl jsem: ‚To ne, Pane! Nikdy jsem nevzal do úst nic nečistého nebo poskvrněného.‘ 9Ten hlas z nebe ke mně ale promluvil znovu: ‚Co Bůh očistil, neměj za nečisté!‘ 10Třikrát se to opakovalo, než to bylo všechno vytaženo zpátky do nebe. 11Vtom se před domem, ve kterém jsem byl, objevili tři muži. Stanul před ním a řekl: ‚Pošli do Joppy a nech zavolat Šimona zvaného Petr. 14Skrze to, co ti poví, budeš spasen ty i celý tvůj dům!‘

A šlo se mnou i těchto šest bratří, a vešli jsme do domu muže jednoho. 13Kterýžto vypravoval nám, kterak viděl anděla v domu svém, an se před ním postavil a řekl jemu: Pošli do Joppen muže některé a povolej Šimona, kterýž slove Petr. 14Onť tobě bude mluviti slova, skrze něž spasen budeš ty i všecken tvůj dům.

These six Jewish believers from Joppa went with me to Caesarea, and then we (exc) went into that non-Jewish man’s house. 13He told us that he had seen an angel standing in his house. The angel told him, ‘Tell some men to go to Joppa and bring back Simon whose other name is Peter. 14He will tell you (sg) how you and everyone [MTY] else in your house will be saved {how God will save you and everyone [MTY] else in your house}.’

5“I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision: a certain container descending, like it was a great sheet let down from heaven by four corners. It came as far as me. 6When I had looked intently at it, I considered, and saw the four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, creeping things, and birds of the sky. 7I also heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter, kill and eat!’ 8But I said, ‘Not so, Lord, for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered into my mouth.’ 9But a voice answered me the second time out of heaven, ‘What God has cleansed, don’t you call unclean.’ 10This was done three times, and all were drawn up again into heaven. 11Behold, immediately three men stood before the house where I was, having been sent from Caesarea to me. 12The Spirit told me to go with them without discriminating. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house. 13He told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying to him, ‘Send to Joppa and get Simon, who is called Peter, 14who will speak to you words by which you will be saved, you and all your house.’
