But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of the free gift of Christ.

Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.”

But that “He ascended”—what is it but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?

He that descended, He is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.

And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,
