[Det var inte ovanligt med rekommendationsbrev. Några exempel i NT är: Apollos, Apg 18:27; Timoteus, 1 Kor 16:10; Febe, Rom 16:1; Johannes Markus, Kol 4:10; Titus, 2 Kor 8:22. Paulus känner sorg över att relationen med vissa i Korint har sjunkit så lågt att han skulle behöva rekommendationsbrev från en tredje part. Han hade ju varit med och fört många av korintierna till tro!]
