Hur apostlarna vittnade i båda dessa områden beskrivs i Apg 8:1-11:18. - Hur de vittnade i hela den då kända världen beskrivs i Apg 11:19-28:31. Två världsbilder flyter här samman – den judiska och den grekisk-romerska. För juden var Jerusalem världens mittpunkt, medan Rom var romarens centrum. Lukas inleder sitt evangelium med förordningen som utgår från kejsaren i Rom, se Luk 2:1. Här i hans andra skrift, Apostlagärningarna, läser vi om den uppståndne Herrens befallningar som utgår från Jerusalem, se vers 1-8. Den judiska världsbilden utgår från släkttavlan i 1 Mos 10:32, där Noas tre söner, Sem, Ham och Jafet, blir stamfäder till alla folk. Sems ättlingar rör sig österut till Arabien och Mesopotamien, Hams ättlingar söderut till Afrika och Jafets ättlingar norr- och västerut till Mindre Asien och Europa. Sems ättlingar motsvaras av Samarien. Hams ättlingar i Afrika nås via Filippus möte med den etiopiske hovmannen. Slutligen kommer evangeliet till Jafets ättlingar via Paulus resor norr- och västerut. Enligt judarnas synsätt var Etiopien och Spanien världens yttersta utposter. Kanske var det därför Paulus ville till Spanien? Det är inte uteslutet att han kom dit, se Rom 15:24. Jesu löfte både här och i missionsbefallningen (Matt 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16) visar att uppdraget gäller än och involverar alla som är hans lärjungar även idag: att med hjälp av den kraft Anden ger, och med utgångspunkt från vår egen plats – ”vårt Jerusalem” – föra ut budskapet om frälsning till alla folk utöver hela vår jord.]
