Dæmi um þetta er loforðið sem Guð gaf Abraham. Guð sór við sitt eigið nafn, þar eð ekki var annað æðra, sem hægt var að sverja við, Psa 105:9; Luk 1:73
When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself,
NMVFor when God-The Father made promise to Avraham [Exalted Father], because he could swear by no greater, he swore by himself,
OJBFor when Hashem gave the havtachah (promise) to Avraham Avinu, als (since) Hashem had no one greater by which to make a shevu'ah (oath), Hashem made a shevu'ah by Himself
T4TWhen God promised to do things for Abraham, he said that he would punish himself if he did not do that, because there was no one of greater importance to ask to punish him if he did not do it.
