God, who in the past spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at various times and in many ways, Num 12:6; 1Pe 1:10has in these last days spoken to us through his Son. God appointed the Son heir of everything, and made the universe through him. When he had provided cleansing for sin he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. Psa 110:1; 2Co 4:4; Eph 1:7; Col 1:15He was placed much higher than the angels since he received a greater name than them. Hebrews is full of Old Testament quotations and allusions, some of which are not quoted exactly or are given in summary form. It is therefore difficult at times to identify the exact source or sources. Old Testament quotes that are relatively clear will be identified here. Note that they are taken from the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures. The quotations referenced in this verse appear to be: Psalms 2:7, 2 Samuel 7:14, and 1 Chronicles 17:13.Psa 2:7; 2Sa 7:14; 1Ch 17:13; Heb 5:5
