Náboženští vůdcové podplácejí stráž

Ti hned svolali poradu s ostatními židovskými představiteli, aby se dohodli, co dělat. Potom štědře podplatili vojáky, aby mluvili shodně s nimi: „V noci jsme usnuli, a zatímco jsme spali, přišli Ježíšovi učedníci a ukradli jeho tělo.“
