Jazyky a proroctví

Chtěl bych, abyste všichni mluvili v jazycích, ale ještě více, abyste prorokovali. Proroctví je totiž cennější než mluvení v jazycích, ledaže by je někdo vykládal pro posílení církve.

1. Korintským 14:5 v různých překladech

Čeština

BKR Chtělť bych pak, abyste všickni jazyky rozličnými mluvili, ale však raději, abyste prorokovali. Nebo větší jest ten, jenž prorokuje, nežli ten, kdož jazyky cizími mluví, leč by také to, což mluví, vykládal, aby se vzdělávala církev.
SNC Ne že bych vám nepřál, abyste třeba všichni mluvili cizími jazyky, ale přednost dávám tomu, abyste Boží slovo přinášeli srozumitelně. Vždyť církev má užitek jenom z toho, čemu může každý rozumět.

KJV (66 books) I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
AFINT (Exp US) Now I want all of you to speak in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy. And the one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edification.
AFINT (Lit US) Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy. And the one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edification.
ASV Now I would have you all speak with tongues, but rather that ye should prophesy: and greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
BSB I wish that all of you could speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets so that the church may be edified.
DRA And I would have you all to speak with tongues, but rather to prophesy. For greater is he that prophesieth, than he that speaketh with tongues: unless perhaps he interpret, that the church may receive edification.
EMTV Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you should prophesy; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified.
FBV Those who speak for God are more important than those who speak in tongues, unless they interpret what's been said, so that the church can be built up.
GNV I would that ye all spake strange languages, but rather that ye prophecied: for greater is hee that prophecieth, then hee that speaketh diuers tongues, except hee expound it, that the Church may receiue edification.
LSV and I wish yöu all to speak with tongues, and more that yöu may prophesy, for greater is he who is prophesying than he who is speaking with tongues, except one may interpret, that the Assembly may receive edification.
MSB I wish that all of you could speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. For he who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets so that the church may be edified.
NASB Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but rather that you would prophesy; and greater is the one who prophesies than the one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edification. NASB 2020
NIV (US) I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.
