KJV (66 books) 14I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. 16Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
AFINT (Exp US) 14I know with certainty, and am fully convinced in union with the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself by its very nature, except to the person who considers something to be unclean; to that person, because of his conscience, it is unclean and defiling. 15For if because of the food you eat, your brother or sister is grieved, hurt, and caused spiritual distress, you are no longer conducting yourself according to the principle of love. Do not destroy with your food choices that person for whom Christ died and gave His life. 16Therefore, do not let your good gift of freedom be slandered as evil by those who are offended.
AFINT (Lit US) 14I know, and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean of itself, except to the one who thinks something to be unclean; to that one, it is unclean. 15For if because of food, your brother is grieved, you are no longer walking according to love. Do not destroy with your food that one for whom Christ died. 16Therefore, do not let your good be spoken of as evil.
ASV 14I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself: save that to him who accounteth anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15For if because of meat thy brother is grieved, thou walkest no longer in love. Destroy not with thy meat him for whom Christ died. 16Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
BSB 14I am convinced and fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. 15If your brother is distressed by what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother, for whom Christ died. 16Do not allow what you consider good, then, to be spoken of as evil.
DRA 14I know, and am confident in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself; but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15For if, because of thy meat, thy brother be grieved, thou walkest not now according to charity. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. 16Let not then our good be evil spoken of.
EMTV 14I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean of itself; except to him considering anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15But if your brother is grieved on account of your food, you are no longer walking according to love. Do not destroy with your food the one on behalf of whom Christ died. 16Therefore do not let your good be slandered.
FBV 14I'm certain—persuaded by the Lord Jesus—that nothing in itself is ceremonially unclean. But if someone considers it to be unclean, to them it is unclean. 15If your fellow-believer is hurt by you over matters of food, then you're no longer behaving in a loving way. Don't destroy someone for whom Christ died by the food you choose to eat. 16Don't let the good things you do be misrepresented—
GNV 14I know, and am perswaded through the Lord Iesus, that there is nothing vncleane of it selfe: but vnto him that iudgeth any thing to be vncleane, to him it is vncleane. 15But if thy brother be grieued for the meate, nowe walkest thou not charitably: destroy not him with thy meate, for whome Christ dyed. 16Cause not your commoditie to be euill spoken of.
LSV 14I have known, and am persuaded, in the Lord Jesus, that nothing [is] unclean of itself, except to him who is reckoning anything to be unclean—to that one [it is] unclean; 15and if your brother is grieved through food, you no longer walk according to love; do not destroy with your food that one for whom Christ died. 16Do not let, then, evil be spoken of yöur good,
NIV (US) 14I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. 15If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died. 16Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil.
NMV 14I know, and am persuaded by the Lord - Kurios [he to whom a person belongs] Yeshua [God is Salvation], that [there is] nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteems any thing to be unclean, to him [it is] unclean. 15But if youri brother be grieved with [youri] meat, now walk youi not charitably. Destroy not him with youri meat, for whom Moshiach [Messiah] died. 16Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
OJB 14I have da'as and am convinced in Adoneinu Yehoshua that nothing is tamei beetzem (intrinsically), except that to the one who reckons something profane, to that person it is profane. 15For if your Ach B'Moshiach is deeply upset on account of [your] okhel (food), you are no longer conducting yourself in terms of ahavah. Do not by your okhel destroy that one for whom Moshiach died. 16Therefore, do not let HaTov of you be brought into contempt.
TCENT 14I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in and of itself, but it is unclean for anyone who considers it to be unclean. 15If yoʋr brother is distressed by what yoʋ eat, yoʋ are no longer walking in love. Do not let what yoʋ eat destroy someone for whom Christ died. 16And do not let what you consider good to be spoken of as evil.
T4T 14I am absolutely certain [DOU] because of my close relationship with (OR, my belonging to) the Lord Jesus that there is nothing that by itself is wrong to eat. But if people think it is wrong to eat something, then to them it is wrong to eat it. So you should not encourage them to eat it. 15If you eat food [MET] that anyone for whom Christ died thinks that it is wrong to eat, that person might be encouraged {you might be encouraging that person} to do something that he believes is wrong. As a result, you might cause that fellow believer to stop trusting in God. In that way he would be ruined spiritually just because you have stopped behaving as one who loves others should behave! 16Similarly, do not do something that you think is good if, as a result, your fellow believer would sin and then others would speak evil of you who say that you are Christians.
WEB (US) 14I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean of itself; except that to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15Yet if because of food your brother is grieved, you walk no longer in love. Don’t destroy with your food him for whom Christ died. 16Then don’t let your good be slandered,
