Brotherly Love

Continue in brotherly love. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Gen 18:3; Gen 19:2; Mat 25:35; Rom 12:13Remember those in prison as if you were bound with them, and those who are mistreated as if you were suffering with them.

Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled; but13:4 CT for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.1Co 6:15

Christ’s Unchanging Nature

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said:

“Never will I leave you,

never will I forsake you.”13:5 Deuteronomy 31:6, 8; Joshua 1:5Jos 1:5; Gen 28:15; Mat 6:34

So we say with confidence:

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.

What can man do to me?”13:6 Psalm 118:6 (see also LXX)Psa 118:6

Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. 1Th 5:12Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.1Co 3:11; Rev 1:4

Do not be carried away13:9 TR carried about by all kinds of strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace and not by foods of no value to those devoted to them. Jhn 6:27; Eph 4:14We have an altar from which those who serve at the tabernacle have no right to eat.1Co 9:13

Although the high priest brings the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin, the bodies are burned outside the camp. Lev 16:27And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate, to sanctify the people by His own blood. Mat 21:39; Mat 27:33; Rev 1:5Therefore let us go to Him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace He bore. 1Pe 4:14; Heb 11:26; Heb 12:2For here we do not have a permanent city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.Php 3:20; Heb 12:22

Sacrifice, Obedience, and Prayer

Through Jesus, therefore,13:15 WH does not include therefore. let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that confess His name. Psa 50:14; Psa 51:17; Hos 14:2And do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.2Co 9:12; Php 4:18

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. To this end, allow them to lead with joy and not with grief, for that would be of no advantage to you.Ezk 33:7; Mat 25:13; Act 20:31; 1Co 4:1

Pray for us; we are convinced that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way. Act 23:1; Rom 15:30And I especially urge you to pray that I may be restored to you soon.

Benediction and Farewell

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, Isa 40:11; Zec 9:16; Jhn 10:11; Act 2:24; 1Th 1:10equip you with every good work13:21 CT every good thing to do His will. Be aware that our brother Timothy has been released. If he arrives soon, I will come with him to see you.

Greet all your leaders and all the saints.

Those from Italy send you greetings.

Grace be with all of you. Amen.13:25 NA, SBL, and WH do not include Amen.
