SKB och säger: ”Omvänd er (ångra er) [tänk annorlunda från och med nu], för himmelriket (himlarnas kungarike) är nära (har närmat sig).” [Uttrycket himmelriket (gr. basileian ton ouranon) återfinns bara i Matteusevangeliet och används synonymt med Guds rike (gr. basileian tou theou) som de andra evangelieförfattarna använder. Omskrivningen reflekterar den judiska gudfruktiga seden att inte skriva ut gudsnamnet. Detta är något man kan förvänta sig av en text riktad främst till judiska läsare, som ju Matteusevangeliet är. Även inom dagens svensk-judiska litteratur skriver man inte ”Gud”, utan ”G-d” utan vokal.]
