Mitt hjärta säger om dig [hjärtat talar på Guds vägnar och uppmanar]: ”Sök [plural] mitt ansikte.” [Versen är svåröversatt. Ordet ”sök” används två gånger i denna vers. Första gången är det i plural, andra person, imperativ. Det antyder troligtvis att uppmaningen i psalmistens hjärta, som kommer från Guds hjärta, inte bara syftar på David utan är en inbjudan till allt Guds folk att söka hans ansikte. I denna vers finns även en antydan om att Gud vill bo i mänskliga hjärtan genom tro, se Ef 3:17. Den andra gången ordet ”sök” förekommer, se nedan, är ordet i singular och första person.
