SKB [Vers 4-9 beskriver hur templet i Jerusalem förstörs:] Dina motståndare har vrålat inuti din mötesplats. Där har de satt upp sina egna tecken (fälttecken, flaggor) som tecken. [Guds mötesplats är arken i det allra heligaste längst in i tabernaklet, dit fick ingen gå in utom översteprästen en gång om året. Mötesplatsen kan även syfta på rökelsealtaret precis utanför förhänget till det allra heligaste som stod längst in i det heliga där prästerna tjänstgjorde dagligen. Oavsett exakt var så är betydelsen att de har vanhelgat templet. Ordet för tecken syftar troligtvis på militära fältflaggor, se 4 Mos 2:12. Samma ord används i vers 9 i samband med profeter. Guds närvaro uppenbarades genom profeterna, se Jes 38:7-8; 20:3.]
