Isa Isaiah, chapter Book of Isaiah, chapter 52
Deliverance for Jerusalem
Awake, awake,
clothe yourself with strength, O Zion!
Put on your garments of splendor,
O Jerusalem, holy city!
For the uncircumcised and unclean
will no longer enter you.Isa 60:1; Act 7:51; Rev 21:27
Shake off your dust!
Rise up and sit on your throne, O Jerusalem.
Remove the chains from your neck,
O captive Daughter of Zion.
For this is what the LORD says:
“You were sold for nothing,
and without money you will be redeemed.”1Pe 1:18
For this is what the Lord GOD says:
“At first My people went down to Egypt to live,
then Assyria oppressed them without cause.Gen 46:6
And now what have I here?
declares the LORD.
For My people have been taken without cause;
those who rule them taunt,52:5 DSS and Vulgate; MT wail
declares the LORD,
and My name is blasphemed continually
all day long.52:5 LXX —on account of you My name is blasphemed continually among the Gentiles; cited in Romans 2:24Ezk 36:20; Rom 2:24
Therefore My people will know My name;
therefore they will know on that day
that I am He who speaks.
Here I am!”
How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,52:7 Cited in Romans 10:15
who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”Psa 68:11; Nam 1:15; Rom 10:15
Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices,
together they shout for joy.
For every eye will see
when the LORD returns to Zion.Ezk 3:17

O ruins of Jerusalem,
for the LORD has comforted His people;
He has redeemed Jerusalem.Isa 40:1
The LORD has bared His holy arm
in the sight of all the nations;
all the ends of the earth will see
the salvation of our God.Psa 98:2

Touch no unclean thing;52:11 Cited in 2 Corinthians 6:17
come out from it, purify yourselves,
you who carry the vessels of the LORD.2Co 6:17; Rev 18:4
For you will not leave in a hurry
nor flee in haste,
for the LORD goes before you,
and the God of Israel is your rear guard.Exo 12:33
The Servant Exalted
Behold, My Servant will prosper;52:13 Or will act wisely
He will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.Zec 3:8; Mat 12:18; Php 2:9
Just as many were appalled at Him52:14 Syriac; Hebrew at You—
His appearance was disfigured beyond that of any man,
and His form was marred beyond human likeness—Isa 8:14; Luk 2:34
so He will sprinkle52:15 Or startle many nations.
Kings will shut their mouths because of Him.
For they will see what they have not been told,
and they will understand what they have not heard.52:15 LXX For those who were not told will see, and those who have not heard will understand.Cited in Romans 15:21Rom 15:21
