KJV (66 books) 1Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 4Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. 5But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. 6For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. 7For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. 9Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 10For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. 11Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. 12For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. 13Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? 14Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? 15But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. 16But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

FBV 1You should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ. 2I'm grateful that you always remember me and that you are keeping to the teachings just as I passed them on to you. 3I do want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, the man is the head of the woman, and God is the head of Christ. 4A man's head is dishonored if he prays or prophesies with his head covered. 5A woman's head is dishonored if she prays or prophesies with her head uncovered—it's just as if she had her hair shaved off. 6If a woman's head is not covered, then she should have her head shaved. If it's scandalous for a woman to be shorn or shaven, then she should have her head covered. 7A man shouldn't cover his head, because he is the image and glory of God, while the woman is the glory of the man. 8Man didn't come from woman, but woman came from man; 9and man was not created for the woman, but the woman was created for the man. 10That's why the woman should have this sign of authority on her head out of respect for the watching angels. 11Even so, from the Lord's perspective, the woman is as essential as the man, and the man as essential as the woman. 12As the woman came from the man, so the man comes from the woman—but more importantly everything comes from God. 13Judge for yourselves: is it appropriate for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14Doesn't nature itself indicate that a man with long hair disgraces himself? 15However, a woman with long hair brings herself glory, because her hair is given to her as a covering. 16But if anyone wants to argue about this, we don't have any other custom than this, and neither do any other of God's churches.
GNV 1Be yee followers of mee, euen as I am of Christ. 2Now brethren, I commend you, that ye remember all my things, and keepe the ordinances, as I deliuered them to you. 3But I wil that ye know, that Christ is the head of euery man: and the man is the womans head: and God is Christs head. 4Euery man praying or prophecying hauing any thing on his head, dishonoureth his head. 5But euery woman that prayeth or prophecieth bare headed, dishonoureth her head: for it is euen one very thing, as though she were shauen. 6Therefore if the woman be not couered, let her also be shorne: and if it be shame for a woman to be shorne or shauen, let her be couered. 7For a man ought not to couer his head: for as much as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man. 9For the man was not created for the womans sake: but the woman for the mans sake. 10Therefore ought the woman to haue power on her head, because of the Angels. 11Neuertheles, neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man in the Lord. 12For as the woman is of the man, so is the man also by the woman: but all things are of God. 13Iudge in your selues, Is it comely that a woman pray vnto God vncouered? 14Doeth not nature it selfe teach you, that if a man haue long heare, it is a shame vnto him? 15But if a woman haue long heare, it is a prayse vnto her: for her heare is giuen her for a couering. 16But if any man lust to be contentious, we haue no such custome, neither the Churches of God.

NIV (US) 1Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. 2I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you. 3But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 4Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. 5But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved. 6For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head. 7A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 10It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own head, because of the angels. 11Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God. 13Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, 15but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. 16If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.

NMV 1Be you2f followers of me, even as I also [am] of Moshiach [Messiah]. 2Now I praise you, brethren, that you2f remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered [them] to you. 3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Moshiach [Messiah]; and the head of the woman [is] the man; and the head of Moshiach [Messiah] [is] God-The Father. 4Every man praying or prophesying, having [his] head covered, dishonours his head. 5But every woman that prays or prophesies with [her] head uncovered dishonours her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. 6For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. 7For a man indeed ought not to cover [his] head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God-The Father: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. 9Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 10For this cause ought the woman to have power on [her] head because of the angels. 11Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord - Kurios. 12For as the woman [is] of the man, even so [is] the man also by the woman; but all things of God-The Father. 13Judge in yourselves: is it comely (attractive; proper (one’s own; peculiar; particular); becoming) that a woman pray unto God-The Father uncovered? 14Does not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? 15But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for [her] hair is given her for a covering. 16But if any man seem to be contentious (loving to quarrel and angrily debate), we have no such custom, neither the churches of God-The Father.
OJB 1Become imitators of me as I also am an imitator of Moshiach. 2Now, I commend you that in all things you have remembered me and you hold fast to the masoret torat haShlichim just as I transmitted and handed them over to you. 3But I want you to have da'as that Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach is the rosh (head) of every one of the Bnei Adam, and the rosh of an isha is the ben Adam (Man, Ba'al), and the rosh of Moshiach is Hashem. 4Every ben Adam davening or speaking forth a nevu'ah (prophecy) having anything hanging down over his rosh brings bushah (shame) upon his rosh. 5But every isha davening or speaking forth a nevu'ah (prophecy) in shul, begile rosh (with head uncovered), brings bushah (shame) upon her rosh, for it is one and the same thing to uncover the rosh as it is for the rosh of the isha having been shaved. 6For, if an isha is not covered, also let her be shorn. But als (since) it is in fact a thing of bushah (shame) for an isha to be shorn or to be shaved, let her be covered. 7For a ben Adam indeed ought not to be covered on the rosh, being the demut HASHEM and the kavod Hashem, and the Isha being the kavod (glory), the glorious reflection of Adam. 8For Adam is not out of the Isha but Isha out of Adam (Man). 9Indeed, Adam was not created because of the Isha, but the Isha because of Adam (Man). 10Because of this, the Isha ought to have a kesut rosh (head covering) of marut (authority, discipline) on her rosh because of the malachim. 11However, neither is Isha without Adam (Man) nor Adam (Man) without Isha in Hashem. 12For just as the Isha comes out of Adam (Man), so also the ben Adam (Man) comes through the Isha but all things are of Hashem. 13You yourselves be the dayan (judge): is it fitting for an isha to offer tefillos to Hashem begile rosh (with head uncovered)? 14Does not teva (nature) itself give you the shiur (lesson) that if a ben Adam wears a long hair-do of a ladyʼs coiffure, it is a dishonor to him? 15But if an isha wears a long hairdo of a ladyʼs coiffure, it is her kavod? Because the long hair has been given to her instead of the sterntichel (kerchief) or kesut rosh (head covering). 16But if anyone presumes in his thinking to be contentious, we have no such minhag, nor do the kehillot of Hashem.
RV 1Be ye imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2Now I praise you that ye remember me in all things, and hold fast the traditions, even as I delivered them to you. 3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 4Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. 5But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonoureth her head: for it is one and the same thing as if she were shaven. 6For if a woman is not veiled, let her also be shorn: but if it is a shame to a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be veiled. 7For a man indeed ought not to have his head veiled, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man: 9for neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man: 10for this cause ought the woman to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the angels. 11Howbeit neither is the woman without the man, nor the man without the woman, in the Lord. 12For as the woman is of the man, so is the man also by the woman; but all things are of God. 13Judge ye in yourselves: is it seemly that a woman pray unto God unveiled? 14Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a dishonour to him? 15But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. 16But if any man seemeth to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
TCENT 1Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. 2Now I praise you, brothers, because you remember me in everything and hold fast to the teachings that have been handed down, just as I delivered them to you. 3But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 4Every man who prays or prophesies with his head veiled disgraces his head, 5and every woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled disgraces her head, for it is one and the same as having her head shaved. 6If a woman will not veil herself, she should cut off her hair. But if it is disgraceful for a woman to cut off her hair or shave her head, she should wear a veil. 7For a man ought not to have his head veiled, since he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man. 8For man did not come from woman, but woman from man. 9Neither was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man. 10That is why a woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. 11Nevertheless, in the Lord neither is man independent of woman nor woman independent of man. 12For just as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman, but all things come from God. 13Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head unveiled? 14Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair it is a disgrace to him, 15but if a woman has long hair it is her glory? For her long hair is given for a covering. 16But if anyone is inclined to be contentious, we have no such custom, and neither do the churches of God.
T4T 1Follow my example, just like I try to follow Christ’s example. 2I praise you because you remember all the things that I taught you and because you follow the instructions that I gave you. You have done just like I told you to do. 3Now, I want you to know that the one who has authority over [MTY] every man is Christ, and the ones who have authority over women are men (OR, their husbands), and the one who has authority over Christ is God. 4So if any man wears a covering over his head when he prays or speaks a message God gave him, he disgraces himself [SYN]. 5Also, if any woman does not wear a covering over her head when she prays or speaks a message that God gave her, she disgraces herself (OR, she dishonors her husband). That would be acting like [SIM] women who are ashamed because their heads have been shaved. 6So, if women do not wear coverings over their heads when they pray or speak messages that God gave them, they should let someone shave their heads so that they will be ashamed. But since women are ashamed if someone cuts their hair short or shaves off their hair, they should wear coverings over their heads when they pray or speak messages that God gave them. 7Men should not wear coverings over their heads when they pray or speak messages that God gave them, because they represent what God is like [MET] and they show how great God is. But women show how great men (OR, their husbands) are. 8Remember that God intends that men have authority over women. We know that because God did not make the first man, Adam, from the first woman, Eve. Instead, he made that woman from a bone that he took from the man. 9Also, God did not create the first man to help the woman. Instead, he created the woman to help the man. 10For that reason, women should wear something to cover their heads as a symbol of their being under their husbands’ [MTY] authority. They should also cover their heads so that the angels will see that and rejoice. 11–12However, remember that even though God created the first woman from the first man, all other men have been born from women. So men cannot be independent of women, nor can women be independent of men. But all things, including men and women, come from God. 13Consider this for yourselves: Is it proper for [RHQ] women to pray to God while they do not have coverings over their heads? 14◄Everyone senses that it is disgraceful for men to have long hair./Doesn’t everyone sense that it is disgraceful for men to have long hair?► [RHQ] 15But it is very delightful if women have long hair, because God gave them long hair to be like a beautiful covering for their heads. 16But whoever wants to argue with me about my saying that women should have a covering over their heads when they pray or speak a message from God should consider the fact that we apostles do not permit any other custom, and the other congregations of God do not have any other custom.
