Hebr. kavod beskriver den tyngd av härlighet och ära som fanns i Guds närvaro i det allra heligaste i tabernaklet och templet. Det sista hebreiska ordet chajim, som betyder liv, står alltid i plural och beskriver livet i dess fullaste mått och innefattar därför även evigt liv, se 2 Mos 2:7.]
