Dessa två budord summerar hela Skriften. Nomos är ett brett ord som betyder lära, norm, lag och kan syfta på hela Bibelns undervisning eller bara Moseböckerna, vilket är fallet här. Genomgående i den grekiska översättningen av GT (Septuaginta) används gr. nomos för hebr. torah. Den grekiska ordföljden är: holon ho nomos (hela undervisningen) – kremamai (hänger) – kai hoi prophetai (och profeterna).
