[Shofarer användes inte som ett instrument utan för att ge en signal. Det räknas troligtvis upp först här, eftersom det ofta användes för ange att något började, som t.ex. en högtid. Nu börjar lovsången! Nevel-lyran hade enligt den judiske historikern Josefus 12 strängar. Det hebreiska ordet nevel betyder skinn och kan antyda att resonanslådan var av läder eller att instrumentets form liknade en skinnsäck. Kinnor-harpan var också bärbar och mindre med 10 strängar.
