SKB Då sa Herren (Jahveh) till mig: ”Du har sett gott, för jag vakar (hebr. shoqed) över mitt ord för att verkställa det.” [Ordet för att vaka över (hebr. shoqed) delar rot med ordet för mandelträd (hebr. shaked) i vers 11. Det finns även en koppling till hur mandelns form liknar ett mänskligt öga. Gud vakar med sitt öga över sitt ord. Mandelträdet är också det första trädet som blommar på våren och är därför ett tecken på en ny vår och står som en symbol för det profetiska. Något som är speciellt är också att mandelträdet är det sista som tappar löven på hösten. Den sjuarmade ljusstaken i templet (menoran) som lyser på natten, har också inslag utformade som mandelblommor, se 2 Mos 25:33.]
