[Ortodoxa judar tolkar Mose bud bokstavligt och därför har de två små svartfärgade läderkapslar, s.k. ”tefillin”, som innehåller pergamentrullar med verser från Torah. De två kapslarna kallas shel rosh och shel jad. Varje vardag före morgonbönen fäster man den ena på armen med hjälp av en läderrem den andra ovanför pannan.
