[Messias (hebr. mashiach) kan syfta på David, som en smord kung (vers 50) eller på Messias. Uttrycket ”din Smordes hälar” kan vara en referens till alla dem som följer Messias eller syfta på de ”vägar” och tillvägagångssätt Gud har när han kommer låta Messias bli den lidande tjänaren, se Ps 22:7; Jes 52:13-15.
